If you are a beginner, someone just thinking about Kickboxing or someone who has been Kickboxing for some time, there are some tips that hold true at all levels. We’ve provided the first three tips on our last blog entry:  1.  Keep your hands up!; 2. Keep your chin down; 3.  BREATHE!

Here are three additional tips to remember as you spar…

Tip 1:  MAKE SURE YOUR HANDS ARE POSITIONED PROPERLY WHEN STRIKING:   Your fists should be clenched tightly… no loose thumbs or fingers that might get jammed or caught.  Keep your thumbs tight against the underside of your fist – NEVER tuck them inside your clenched fist.

Tip 2:  THROW PUNCHES WITH SPEED AND TECHNIQUE – RELAX:  If every punch is a power shot, you’ll exhaust quickly.  Go for speed and technique – find the opening.  Relax and conserve your energy for the right moment.

Tip 3:  MIX IT UP – USE COMBINATIONS:  If you continuously use one punch or kick, then your moves will be anticipated by your sparing partner and you will be ineffective.  Use several punches and combine them with kicks.  Mix up your combinations and try not to become predictable.

More tips to come tomorrow…. come try a Kickboxing Class and learn more today!
